Queensland COVID update: International arrivals could be forced into MINING CAMPS, new cases announced

Overseas travellers into Brisbane could be forced into mining camps after a cluster of six coronavirus cases was linked to a quarantine hotel in the CBD.

Four new cases have been recorded in hotel quarantine in Queensland overnight on Thursday, but none are related to the Hotel Grand Chancellor cluster of the highly contagious UK strain of the virus.

The hotel has been evacuated.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said mining camps could be used for future overseas travellers in a bid to stop the spread of the new strain.

More to come.
